lost reverse 6 SPD TRANNY (Oring not working) 90 VET

The ring you use on the manual trans will not work . Now I have no reverse.I have been told its the linkage but im not sure. It does not appear to be in the Trans just the linkage.The Oring you pull up with two fingers.Where do I begain.Thanks KB
