: : I just built a 93 chevy 454. I put the engine in a 89 truck. When I try to start the engine it bends the intake push rods. I have bought studs from chevrolet and made the engine adjustable rockers. And followed to the letter the valve lash adjustments. Any clue to why it keeps bending pushrods
: How big is the cam in your built engine? Did you use domed pistons? The rods are bending because they are being squeezed between the cam and the valve being whacked by the top of the piston. First check the valve train timing, if it is on the mark you will have to make mods to the valve train.
You are experencing coil bind due to the lift being to grate or possibley you might reduce the push rod length or and use a push rod length checker for security PS dont destroy a good eng .they are rare.
